Past Editions

FIRST EDITION – 11-15 and 18-22 July 2016

A total of 13 and 11 interpreters attended the very first edition of the Leeds EN IT Practice Session, including two who were adding Italian as C. Topics discussed in the sessions included renewable energies, technology, economy and finance, and a mock conference on LGBT rights and female rights respectively. SECOND EDITION – 7-11 August 2017

The 2017 edition was attended by a total of 14 interpreters, including a Spanish A interpreter working on her Italian C. Topics discussed included food trends and nutrition, EU affairs, media and culture, and a mock conference on international diplomacy, Brexit and Donald Trump.

THIRD EDITION – 23-27 July 2018

The 2018 edition was attended by a total of 15 interpreters, including two Spanish As interested to improve their Italian C. Topic discussed (and interpreted) ranged from finance and economics, to international trade and marketing, to food trends, healthcare and much more. Our mock conference mimicked a meeting among Ryanair representatives, consumer watchdogs and trade unions representatives.

FOURTH EDITION – 29 July to 2 August 2019

A total of 16 colleagues attended the 2019 editions, including a Spanish and a French A. Sophie Llewellyn-Smith, aka the Interpreting Coach, was kind enough to guide our Italian A participants through the meandres of interpreting into English. Our English As, on the other hand, benefitted from an extra session on the intricacies of interpreting from Italian. Our mock conference mimicked a trade union meeting, and topics discussed throughout the week ranged from economics to food trends, and from politics to the environment.

FIFTH EDITION – 3-7 August 2020

Applications are now open for our fourth edition and we look forward to welcoming old and new faces to Leeds for yet another productive and fun week of practice amongst like-minded colleagues. Feel free to fill out the application form if you’d like to take part in #LeedsENIT 2020.
